Final Thoughts
Overall, Brisbane was a fantastic experience. She instantly distinguishes herself from Minotaur due to her toolbox. She ends up being a particularly versatile ship with her powerful main battery combined with Surveillance Radar for assault and her heavy torpedo weaponry for a more defensive approach.
While she is not for everyone due to her squishy and merciless nature, she will deliver big time for those who can deal with that difficulty. I’m not sure how difficult it will be to obtain her, but as long as it’s not like Puerto Rico back in the day, it’ll be well worth the effort.

Grind Or Perish
You cannot directly access all ships. Winning matches and doing well in combat earns you points that count toward Tier advancement. As you progress through the Tiers, you will gain access to more advanced and powerful battleships to play with.
Fighting at the higher Tiers is unquestionably the most enjoyable aspect of this game. All ships at Tier 7 and higher are quite powerful, and the higher general skill level of the players makes combat more engaging. Teams speak more frequently, debating tactics and overall strategy. You’ll get back up if you ask for it. The gamers are more focused on winning, which you cannot expect from the lesser divisions. Unfortunately, the great majority of gamers will never reach these upper Tiers.
A Fantastic Casual Experience
If you don’t care about unlocking every ship or reaching the highest Tiers of play, that’s alright. Whilst the upper tiers have nicer ships that carry a punch, the lower tiers still have a lot of fun. Breaking through a ship’s hull with a properly placed volley gets your heart racing no matter what Tier you play in, and superb positioning and understanding of team compositions will serve you well even if you don’t have a premium ship.
Is it historically correct? Absolutely not. But, World of Warships, like Worlds of Tanks and Warplanes before it, is a lot of fun. It is nothing like those two games, yet it retains the Wargaming pedigree and attitude.
Is It Worthwhile To Play World Of Warships?
This is a subjective question that is determined by personal tastes. Some gamers love World of Warships’ fast-paced action, strategic gameplay, and wide range of ships. Others may be put off by the game’s learning curve, grind-oriented advancement, and pay-to-win components.

All four ship types also have numerous layers to show the technological breakthroughs made to these combat vehicles. The carrier is a good example: the USS Langley is a converted coal tanker with a deck covered in canvas-winged biplanes. Carriers progress from the USS Lexington to the late-war behemoth USS Midway.
There’s no doubt that playing with high-end vessels is a lot of fun. I terrorized the local battlefield as the Japanese titan Yamato, placing myself in shallows with a clear line of sight and showering explosive hell down on half the server. I hid behind a volcanic island just meters from the combat as the Midway, sending pilots and bombs overland and back, taking the enemy apart.
It’s admirable, I suppose, that incompetent players with money to burn can’t simply buy the best ships in the game. The ship tiers also serve as a form of matchmaking filter, so those in the largest ships will be pitted against the best players available. To be fair, you do receive a large number of ships quite quickly.
Most players will have no trouble unlocking the first four-ship tiers, which grant access to all four ship types and a plethora of possibilities. But, after that tier, prices skyrocket. It’s a shame that so much of this game’s amazing imagery, including the glistening steel decks and rusted hull panels and black-bored cannons, has been lost.
